Steve Rush

Steve graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a strong background in Chemistry.  He then earned Masters degree from Duke University in Forestry, concentrating in plant physiology. While still in college, he spent 6 months as an assistant reseacher in the Environmental Sciences division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He worked several years as a general contractor in the Atlanta, GA area.  The science and construction background was a perfect introduction to the world of indoor environmental problems!

Steve is a Registered Environmental Assessor with the state of California.  He also has the following certifications with the American Indoor Air Quality Association:  Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant, Certified Microbial Consultant, Certified Indoor Air Quality Consultant and Certified Mold Remediation Supervisor. He is a Asbestos Building Inspector.  However, asbestos inspections are not offered.

Steve is an advisor to the Board of Directors for the non-profit corporation Green and Beyond, Inc. which educates and promotes  the use of non-toxic and environmentally freindly materials and products.

He has testified in court as an expert witness concerning indoor environmental issues.

He has personally inspected and consulted on more than 1,000 cases concerning indoor environmental issues.

Who Am I?

STEVE RUSH

Environmental Inspector and Consultant

A strong science background and construction experience gives him the skill and understanding needed to conduct inspections and access indoor environmental problems.

With regard to building investigation, Steve’s approach is from the perspective of Building Science. Although microbial testing is offered, an understanding of the conditions that created the problem, its source and the transport mechanisms involved is crucial to understanding the dynamics of the problem. Moisture intrusion, heating and ventilation systems, and building construction practices and protocols are all brought together to give a complete picture of the environment. This knowledge is critical for prescribing remediation and solutions to the conditions.
